This is my first blog of the New Year!

I'm not sure what to say... I want to be a better me. I want to grow more as a person!

My gift from E.L.F

I got the Mini Makeup Collection as my free gift with an order code. I actually really like it! It has a HUGE mirror in the lid. Its pretty convenient and easy to use. I just wish I knew what the color names where.

The Collection Includes:
9 eyeshadows

1 cream eye shadow

1 blush

1 bronzer

10 lip glosses

1 brow powder

1 eyeliner pencil in Black

1 dual ended eye shadow applicator

1 face brush

1 lip brush.

I love this!! The colors are so amazing! Great pigmentation! I like the lip brush. The eyeshadow applicators are both foam, so I won't use them. The face brush is so soft, but I probably won't use it.

The eyeliner is so smooth! Brow powder seems sheer enough to be usable for everyone. The blush is AMAZING!!! The pigmentation is great, the color is so beautiful!!! Its this peachy-pink with gold micro glitter!!! The bronzer is nicely pigmented with gold micro glitter.

The eyeshadows:

The cream one is a nice milky shimmery cream color. Very sheer, very wearable.

The Shimmery brown: is beautiful. Its a bronze-antique gold, very pigmented!
The Shimmery gold: this is a milky gold color with gold micro glitter.
The Shimmery dark green: not nearly as pigmented, but its this build-able forest/olive green. With sort of reddish micro glitter.
The Shimmery pale green: has no pigmentation!
The Matte Brown: is sort of a reddish brown.
The Shimmery Duo-chrome: Is super pigmented!!! Its a gold-ish, green, brown... Its a beautiful color!
Shimmery silver gray: Very sheer, a pretty silver color.
Shimmery charcoal gray: Is amazingly pigmented! Has silver micro glitter.
Matte black: It has micro glitter, but that doesn't transfer. Pretty pigmented.

The Lip glosses:
Translucent glitter: Exactly what it says it is, the glitter is a multi colored duo-chrome.
Baby Pink: This has a shimmer/sheen to it, this one probably has the worst color payoff.
Pink-pink: This is a little matte, but the color payoff is perfect! Its like a lipstick!
Brown: Its a sort of reddish brown.
Gold: Is beautiful, milky gold.
Red-Brown: A deep mahogany color. Slightly shimmery.
Rose: Such a beautiful color. Very pigmented!
Deep Rose: Very pigmented!
Deep Pink: Beautiful color, a little matte.
Plum: A little shimmery, very pretty color.

I will work on posting pictures soon!

Part of my E.L.F order that didn't turn out well.

I also ordered the Translucent Matifying Powder.. but it came shattered! Its completely unusable! The powder got EVERYWHERE!!! Including on my pants. I've contacted E.L.F, and while they don't do returns... I can get a new one. I'm glad because I really wanted to try this product. This was $3.

E.L.F Package First Impression!

Here's what I ordered:

Eyelash curler:... this is the first one I've ever owned or used. It came with an extra silicone pad which is really considerate! This was from their studio line. I bought this for $3.

Mineral Eyeshadow primer: This was $3

Shimmer eyeliner pencil: I got two of these one in Bandit, which is black with subtle sparkle, and the other in Twinkle Teal, a green shimmer, foiled color. I love these, just trying them, they are so smooth! There's a sharpener in the cap, which is nice if your traveling. These were a dollar each.

Eye Widener: Basically a shimmery white eyeliner. Its SO SMOOTH!!! The color is beautiful! I can't wait to use this! This was also a dollar!

Clarifying Pressed Powder: I got this in Ivory. It's a matte powder, its so smooth and seems to have pretty good coverage, but I got this to use as a setting powder. I think it will work wonderfully for this. It came with a puff, but I think a brush will work better. This was a dollar!

High Definition Powder: This also cam with a puff, but I'll also be using a brush with it. There's powder on the container, which isn't very professional. It shows that this wasn't packaged correctly and its a waste of product! I know this is fairly cheap, but no one wants to waste money. The powder is white, which means that it won't muddy foundation, like Mineral Veil does. I think the powder will work perfectly as a setting powder. Its very smooth. I bought this for $6

Body Glow: This is one of E.L.F.'s new products. This also came with a puff and I might use it since brushes can buff away the powder and transfer it very easily. This was packaged really well! I like the container. The powder is really shimmery! Its sort of a pale gold and you get SO much product. This was $6.

Natural Radiance Blusher: I was a little confused on how to open it, but I finally figured it out. It opens like a drawer, but its really had to open! In fact I just cut myself trying to get it open. Please, if you get this be vary careful getting if open, I literally just cut a chunk out of my skin. As a company, you probably don't want to make your costumers bleed trying to get your product open. If you do get it open, don;t let it click when you close it. I got this in the color Glow. Its such a beautiful color, but the container is so small! But for a dollar, how much product can you expect. Powder is very nice, great pigmentation, very smooth powder. I think this will blend really well!

Studio Blush: I got three of these at $3 each. The containers are great! They resemble NARS packaging. It comes with a little mirror. You get quite a lot of product. The texture of the powder is great! The first color I got is Peachy Keen, its not quite as pigmented, and its more of a glow-y color. I think it will be great for a subtle look, the color is more brown than peach, but I can use this as a bronzer! The next is Tickled Pink, I LOVE this color! I wish the color payoff was better, but its matte. This is my first matte blush, I think it will be interesting to use. The last color is my favorite!!! Its a color called Blushing Rose. It looks really dark, but its so beautiful. A red rose color with gold-ish micro glitter. Color pay off is really good! The color is amazing on the skin, but the glitter doesn't come through as much as I'd like. This color is a little iridescent, which is what most people would call duo-chrome. I love it!

Shimmering Facial Whip: I think this product can be used so many different ways! I'm really excited about it! I have the color Lilac Petal. You could use this by mixing it with your tinted moisturizer or foundation to make it dewy(I think e.l.f suggests this.), You could use this as a lip tint, either by mixing it or using it on it's own, a high light, eye shadow base, ect! Consistency is nice and creamy, and its very light, it blends well. It has a great smell, very subtle orange. I wish the lilac came out more. This was a dollar!

Lip lock Pencil: This is just a translucent lip liner, I'm not sure how it will work, but I think its really interesting! I just opened it and it broke... I'm not even sure how. I think I can still work with it, but it sucks that it broke... I think its because the packaging doesn't fit securely around the product... There's a lot of space around the product! Which is weird because this is one of their studio products. This was $3.

Happy New Year!!! Resolution time!

I wish the best for everyone in the upcoming year, Brightest Blessings! I hope everyone had a great year, and has a wonderful safe time tonight!

Last year My resolutions were...

1) Get a Job.

2) Graduate from High School.

I actually did accomplish both of these! I couldn't keep my job because I was having a lot of problems with my partners... Let me Explain... Last spring I started working with my friend Juan and and his boss who is also a Spiritual Consultant, only she's Catholic. We started working together, just in her home with magick and herbs, and after awhile she suggested that we go into business together. But first Juan and I had to do a ceremony for her, which went fine, Juan and I work really well together in that area. She made us an offer on the ceremony,... but ceremonies are still pretty expensive, and she understood that. We agreed to $250 each. Which for an 8 hours ceremony + expenses IS NOTHING! Maybe a week after the ceremony, neither of us had seen any money, so we politely asked her about it and received our first payment.. which was "All she could afford"... it was $50. But she said she would continue to make payments so we trusted her. So after the ceremony, we started a business together, she had the license and we worked under her as partners... after a month we began to wonder where our money was... Her debt to me was now $780 dollars, and even then I was overlooking A LOT!!! Juan's was so much more... well over 1000 dollars. She kept telling us that she was having problems and that she had so many enemies.... ect. By this time Juan and I were getting nervous. Juan was getting payed directly from his costumers, but was also told that he would be getting payed by the hour. I was had the same deal, but I didn't really have any costumers... so I help Juan with his. We were also supposed to have contracts.. but she "Never got around to it." There was so much more that happened, but whatever, Juan and I were fed up, so we left. We're still burning about the money and the fact that an AMATEUR USED us, when she really had no idea what she was doing... Her ethics were troubling as well, but I'll leave that for another day. So that was my job.

I graduated Yampah Mountain High School in May in the Top Quarter of my class.

Resolutions for 2011:

1) Get muscle tone. Basically work out.

2) SAVE MONEY!!!!

3) Get a real job!

4) Do really well in school!

Wish me luck!

My first Lactic Acid peel...

Was pretty good... not at all like I thought it was going to be. It itched more than burned. I only left it on for 1 min, which is what they recommend to begin with and the concentration is 35%. After the treatment I used my Mario Badescu Collagen Moisturizer, my face felt tight but really smooth. As I'm looking at it now... I can see that my white heads have drained and my skin does seem improved, and now my skin is loosening up, but still feels firmer. My sample patch looks fine, its not even red, whereas my face looks a bit red and shiny, but its comfortable.

Hard Candy Visibly Wet Lip Pencil in Candy Apple

I actually really like this! I got it at Walmart for $6. It has absolutely no scent, but the pigmentation and texture is just FANTASTIC!!! It has cinnamon... I think, which they should warn people about, but for some reason don't. Its quite surprising to put something on your lips and feel them tingle... when your not expecting it is worse. As far as plumping, I don't notice a difference, and its not especially moisturizing, but the pigmentation is really worth it. The color is just amazing. Its bright red... but not an orange-red, its more of a royal red with red micro-glitter. The actual product is pretty glossy and really smooth. It doesn't seem to feather or dry out which is the good thing. It doesn't dry out my lips, but it doesn't add moisture either. I give this a 9 out of 10!

Why I don't post pictures that often...

I have to get all of my pictures from Google... I have a camera, but its broken. In fact its been broken since my trip to Sundance Film Festival. So I haven't been able to take pictures.... or take the black and white photography class I want to take, because I don't have a camera. I don't see myself getting a camera any time soon... so that said... I really want to do swatches of my lipstick/lip products collection... which is mostly drugstore, but I have the urge... And I want to post pictures of my Christmas stuff and my hauls... ect. But until I get a camera. I can't... So I hope that explains a little.

Review: HardCandy Sheer Envy Primer and Illamasqua

I like this a lot! This is $8 at Walmart, but its 1.6 fluid ounces! My Illamasqua primer is only 1oz. for 19 euro, but I got a discount which was 20% off, so I got mine for about four euro off... So 17 euro plus shipping. The reason I actually got a discount is because there was some sort of shipping problem. And they didn't ship my order... which happens around the holidays, its pretty common, and I'm glad we have it all figured out. Here's what I'm worried about... I still haven't received either package. The first package is pretty late... like three weeks to a month... but again it is the holiday season and the mail system has been slow since the bombs from Yemen were found... so it will take longer... I just wished I had a tracking number...

Okay... Back on subject. I just got this today, so I've only tried it a little bit, so I guess this is more of a first impression than a review... I don't know if I can steal that or not since Xsparkage has already used it for her video line and probably for blogs too. Oh well. The consistency is really interesting. It has several types of silicone in it, Dimethicone, silica, Dimethicone Crosspolymer and several others. So if you have an allergy to silicone.... DO NOT USE THIS!!!! I had to shake mine before application, it seems to separate pretty easily. Coming out of the tube... the primer itself is white but it blends clear. The texture is kinda like collagen. Like hydrated collagen or really thick Jell-o. It blends really well... very smooth, but like most silica based products it doesn't exactly dry, or at least it doesn't feel like it does. Its very light weight, but I can't tell how it will do with fine lines or large pores.

I'd like to mention that this company, DOES NOT test on animals which is always a good thing. It's cheap, accessible, and you get quite a lot of product for the price. Hard Candy also has really good quality products. I definitely recommend them! As I use this, I'll probably post an update as well as a comparison between Hard Candy and Illamasqua.

Aqua Velva by Aqua Velva

Men's. (Sweet Amber Musk) I love this one, I used to steal it from my dad when I was a kid. Its very fragrant, and smells a bit like flowers. But it's deep too... I think theres patchouli in this. I have a vintage bottle of this, so I don't know if they've changed the formula. But I really love this warmth. 10 out of 10

British Sterling by Dana

Men's.(Woody Oriental) I get the Amber, woods, and moss. Its spicy and fresh, there's this note of mint that I really like about this scent. There's a note that I'm confused about... its licorice!!! I love it!!! It adds the really fresh sweetness to this scent. I'm not getting any citrus, though. 10 out of 10

Iron by Coty

Men's.(Soapy Amber) I love this one!!! Its soapy and sweet and musky!! I also get some Amber and spice, in fact there's something a little minty about it. I like this for men. It develops well on the skin, very masculine. 10 out of 10

Jovan Sex Appeal for Men

Men's.(Amber) Its sweet and smells a little like nag champa. I smell Amber and a unnamed spice. But like most colognes it doesn't develop much on the skin. I like the Nag Champa note to this fragrance. 7 out of 10

Old Spice by Shulton

Men's. (Spice) Old Spice is one of those classic male fragrances! I'm sure everyone has memories of their dad and what he smelled like. I have a vintage bottle of Old Spice. I get sweet vanilla and spice, but nothing else. I like this a lot of the nostalgia it makes me feel. 8 out of 10

Lady Stetson By Coty

Woman's. (Spicy Musk) I like this one, its pretty complex once it wears down a bit. The Amber and the Balsam is the first an last thing I notice about this fragrance. The Balsam adds a wonderful musky note. The mosses add a dusty depth to this fragrance. I like this scent. 8 out of 10

Heaven Sent By Dana

Women's. (Spicy Woods) Another fragrance that doesn't develop very much on the skin. Sweet woods are warmed up by unnamed spices. A simple Oriental. 6 out of 10

French Vanilla By Dana

Woman's. (Amber Vanilla) When I first spritzed this on I got the very distinct scent of Amber. This fragrance doesn't develop very much on the skin, but the dry down is lovely. Sweet, but creamy, the vanilla is subtle and tends to get overpowered by the Amber. All in all, a simple lovely fragrance. 6 out of 10

Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation Review

Okay this is the promised review... Now that the Rich Liquid Foundation is on sale... Only in one color though... that seems weird!!!

I have the color 115

Its interesting... I'm not sure what to make of this product! I like it but I don't love it, but I am going to try a problem solver....

What I don't like:

1) It cakes around any imperfection, any dry area, any broken skin. Which makes these imperfections stand out even more.

2) It oxidizes really quickly.... and that really muddies the color.

My Problem Solver:
I have ordered Illamasqua's Satin Finish Primer, and I'm hoping that the foundation will adhere better and oxidize less.

What I like:

1) The product blends soooo easily!!!! Its like a primer! And because it has the texture of a primer you MOST DEFINITELY NEED a setting powder, though I'm starting to wonder if a setting spray would work better. But once set it won't budge!

2) It does not sink into open pores!

3) The color is fantastic it blends perfectly into the skin tone on my neck, but my boyfriend says that it looks too pale for my face. Which I don't know if I agree with or not.

4) You have to be careful with this foundation because it can become uneven when applied too quickly.

I'm hoping things will get better with the primer, and I'll give you guys an update as soon as I can!

Illamasqua is Discontinuing Several Products!!!

Which means a HUGE sale... right now a lot of products are up to 50% off!!! Including the Rich Liquid foundation... that I bought last month.... yeah.... Lolz. Good thing about this is that they are NOT getting rid of their Liquid Metals!!! Which I love, but their expensive so I haven't bought any... But I want to see where Illamasqua goes with that particular product line.

I hope everyone had a great holiday!! Update!

I will be posting a blog on all of the things I received and some of the things I'm giving before I send them, but that will have to wait until I get back home. Currently I'm at my parent's house, enjoying a lovely WARM holiday with them! It's like 50 degrees Fahrenheit!!! That's SUPER warm for Colorado. I've also ordered some cosmetics from Elf... a brand that I've never tried... so I'm pretty excited about that. I'm thinking about getting a standing mirror for tutorials, which I'll probably get. I also ordered some skincare products, including a Lactic Acid chemical peel kit, which I think will be really interesting if my skin can tolerate it. I'll also be posting a blog on what I've learned about chemical peels. I hope I can get a better web cam program so I can start making videos again.

I would love to hear what everyone got for their holiday an/or what you got others! Please give me some ideas for next year!!!! ;P

Happy Yule Day 1

I hope everyone got the chance to enjoy last night's Total Lunar Eclipse. This is the first time since 1374 that the total lunar eclipse has been on the Winter Solstice. I unfortunately didn't really get to see it because there was too much cloud cover, but I caught a glimpse of the beautiful red moon around 2 am. Today was the beginning of Yule, which lasts for 13 days. Yule is celebrated with the spreading of the warmth throughout the community. This is done by lighting personal hearths with torches that were lit with a sacred fire that is kept burning throughout the winter. This represents that we are all connected and equal and that our souls all come from the same source. Yule is also celebrated with communal feasts. Yule celebrates the death and re-birth of the sun from the mother earth. So the return of light and the hope for a brighter year. During this time we sacrifice a Boar, if we do not spill the blood of the Boar it is said that the Mother Goddess will not have the strength to give birth to the sun.

The food is put away for the winter,
the crops are set aside to feed us,
the cattle are come down from their fields,
and the sheep are in from the pasture.
The land is cold, the sea is stormy, the sky is gray.
The nights are dark, but we have our family,
kin and clan around the hearth,
staying warm in the midst of darkness,
our spirit and love a flame
a beacon burning brightly
in the night.

Montale: Velvet Flowers

Woman's. (Sweet... floral, fruit.) I really like this one too... its like a mid-summer fragrance. The saffron is very mild and Smokey in this scent. Its very rich and sweet... like clean sheets in France.... That's what it reminds me of... Paris! Its like bed linens... dried in the summer sun in a French Orchard. Its clean, but deep and a little woody. 10 out of 10.

Penhaligon's Elisabethan Rose

Woman's. (ROSE!!!!) I love this one... it's a pure vintage rose. Its vintage, but its fresh as well... like an old, well tended, rose garden. Rose is one of my favorite scents... it reminds me of so many things in my childhood. The mid-notes I get the Aldehydes note... which really brings some shade and depth to this rose garden. Otherwise the rose hangs in until the last moment... like I wish the rose in Miss Charming would do... Maybe I'll try layering this rose with that one... 10 out of 10

Creative Scentualization: Perfect Kiss

Woman's. (Sweet Summer Spice) This perfume is really Summery! Its rich and sweet and warm... but its a little dusty and dry. Like a summer breeze. I guess this could describe the perfect first kiss too... warm, dry, sweet, intimate, but innocent. This is definitely more of a daytime fragrance. It makes my mouth water... for berries and honey... maybe I'm just hungry and missing summer.. Lolz 10 out of 10.

Etat Libre d'Orange; Don't Get Me Wrong Baby, I Don't Swallow

Woman's. (Fresh Florals) The Jasmin in this is AMAZING!!! This scent is so spring-ish, and sunny. Its like having High Tea in your rich Great Aunt's flower garden. It reminds me A LOT of Creed Spring Florals!!! I love the name too... lolz. And I also like the terminology Etat Libre d'Orange uses to name the act that the title of this fragrance implies... "The American Kiss"!!! This is a very sensual fragrance, but in a very clean way. 10 out of 10

Review: Etat Libre d'Orange; Secretions Magnifiques

Unisex. (Blood, saliva, semen, sweat) This scent is INTERESTING!!! Its not particularly pleasant... but is so astounding that I kinda like it... At first it smells like men's cologne, but then, as it wears, it gets more and more... I don't really have a word for it... well it starts to smell more like body fluids... but it never quite looses it's sweetness. I guess that would be the breast milk note. I definitely get the saliva, which is more like dog's saliva, and the metallic note of blood... but I'm not getting the seminal fluid or sweat. I really do like this... I'm not sure what about it though. I think its the Iris... and the aldehyde... Etat Libre d'Orange says..."Its Love or Hate at first sight." I have to agree with this... Most people HATE this scent... I find it likable in a very primal way. Honestly I think more people like this than are willing to say, since it is rather taboo in the fragrance world, to be so blatantly sexual. 9 out of 10... this may change though. I got my sample at Luckyscent.com, btw.

Yay Finals are over and I survived!!!!!!!!!

Though I'm super burned out and ready for my month long vacation. I have fairly good grades... I know my grades for two of my classes, but for math I won't know for a while. I'm feeling fairly confident though! And I've almost gotten all of my Yule gifts bought!

I'm also kinda planning a vacation... I won't be able to do it for a year though, but the summer after next, I am ABSOLUTELY going to go to Japan. I still have to save though... which is hard since I have to buy new cloths... mine are wearing out:(...

Quote of the day 11/7/10

"Art is what you can get away with."

~ Andy Warhol (originally Marshall McLuhan)

Narcolepsy...

I just posted a video I made for my Psychology Class... so I figured I'd write about what I learned. I originally wanted to do a video on SUNDS, or Sudden Unexpected Nocturnal Death Syndrome. There just simply wasn't enough information on it... like whether or not it occurred in REM or Non-REM; basically like Nightmares, or Night Terrors.... So instead I interviewed my Roommate Nicolas Craft, who is a Narcoleptic. The Interview was conducted by Ashley King. HUGE thanks to both of them!!!! I actually got all of the footage I needed in about 4 takes, so that was amazing... they were AMAZING on camera. Ashley brought A LOT of much needed humor to the film. So I'm pretty happy with the film overall... The film was shot with a crew of four people, including myself!!! And this film was accomplished in EXACTLY 24 hours!!! Haha maybe I should do Insomnia Film Fest!!!

Narcolepsy is a neurological sleep disorder affecting 1 in every 2000 Americans... and nearly 3 million people around the world. (That was taken directly from Wikipedia, btw...)

Automatic Behavior is very similar to Sleepwalking...

Hypnagogia: A state of transition to wakefulness. Symptoms include sleep paralysis, hallucinations, and lucid dreaming, to name a few.

Cataplexy is a sudden weakening of the muscles, sometimes brought on by strong emotions.

Sunscreen/skincare types

1) Sunscreen should be the first product you apply; sunscreen needs to be touching your skin to be effective. So apply your sunscreen, then your moisturizer.

2) Mind your spf... spf denotes how long you can stay in the sun and how well that sunscreen will cover you. Example: spf of 15: if it takes you 5 min to burn in the sun without sunscreen, with a sunscreen of 15, you can stay in the sun for 15 times that, so 75 min. The protection an spf 15 sunscreen will give you is about 88%. Spf 30: coverage is about 95%. ect, ect.

3) A cotton tee-shirt gives you an spf of 15.

4) Reapplication is absolutely necessary.

5) Higher the spf... the thicker the formula. I use about 85-95 spf, because I am so fair and I don't mind the texture. I actually use a spray on, Bananaboat in spf 85, and its more of an oil consistancy, which absorbs really well.

6) If you have acne, use a water-based or oil free sunscreen.

7) Sunscreen lotions spread easier than creams.

8) Use a sunscreen even in winter.

9) Makeup and moisturizers with spf DOES protect you from the sun, but it must the the first thing you put on your skin! So if you have a moisturizer with spf 15, since that it usually what you apply first you are getting that protection, but your makeup with spf 15 won't be effective in giving you sun protection. Your still protected by your moisturizer though.

10) Make sure you use enough product to evenly cover your entire body. About 1 oz is enough for your entire body. When I went to the Caribbean, I emptied my 8 oz bottle of Bannnaboat in about a day and a half... I re-applied every two hours or so... which is necessary for proper sun protection.

11) Re-application is necessary even if your sunscreen says that its waterproof.

12) It takes about 30 min for your sunscreen to take full effect once its applied.

Products I'm Loving... November 2010

Again... in no particular order.

Aura: Daily Shampoo in Pure. I love the scent, its sweet and spicy! It cleans really well and makes your hair really shiny. about $8

Nexxus: Therappe. I love this shampoo! Out of the bottle its super thick, but it cleanses really well and it smells AWESOME!!! Like coconuts!I think it hydrates my hair really well. about $12.

Nexxus: Humectress Luxe Leave in Spray. The scent is fruity, but it dissipates really quickly. It moisturizes without weighing down your hair, and it leaves your hair really shiny and clean looking. Its a bit pricey though. $12 for 5.1 fl oz...

Softsoap: Ultra Rich Shea Butter Creme Body Wash. I love the scent...its really pleasant and natural smelling. Its really thick, and cleanses and moisturizes really well. $3.

Aveeno: Ultra-Calming Foaming Cleanser. This cleanser doesn't really foam, I mean it does but the foam disappears almost immediately. What I love about this product is that it reduces redness really well!!! Its amazing, I'll wash my face and maybe 10 mins later my face will be almost the exact same tone... all over!! $8

My Favorite Bloggers and their Blogs

In no particular order...

Runnyrunny999: his blog is runnyrunny, and I love his channel on Youtube... his blog is pretty much an extension of his channel. He talks about his cooking and his life. The really cool thing he does is write in English and Japanese.

Klaire de Lys: Her blog is Klaire de Lys, she does makeup... looks, reviews, ect. I really like her because she's so realistic, she's super relate-able, and she's really down to earth! Her makeup style is really artsy, and she also has a Youtube channel.

Katie Puckrik: Her blog is Katie Puckrik Smells, same as her Youtube Channel. I like her because she puts A LOT of personality into her fragrance reviews... which makes them super entertaining and funny!

Alienman: Her blog is golfishcake.com she does pretty much the same thing as I do, and by that I mean she does a whole conglomerate of subjects. Thought, I think she's far more successful at it than I am. She's super opinionated, but she does it in a relate-able, hilarious way!!!

Ange ou Etrange by Givenchy

Woman's. Type: Sweet. This scent is very creamy! Its like Ange ou Demon, but more chocolaty. It doesn't change much, but its kinda complex. Its warm and sweet... kinda makes me hungry for cheesecake... It's less sweet than Ange ou Demon, rather its more rich. Next to Ange ou Demon, Ange ou Etrange is beaten by a long shot... but AE has a sophistication that AD lacks. Seems rather easy to overpower; though, there is this nice, light sweetness to AE... I want to say it's floral, but I really can't place it. 10 out of 10

Tommy Bahama for Women

Woman's. Type: Sweet tropical florals. I like this one... its very similar, but more complex... to what I don't know. The Hawaiian Tuberose really plays its part in this EDP!! It's similar to Halloween and White Camilla, but this scent is much more pronounced and has a sugary aspect that the other two don't have. How should I say this, it lacks the subtlety and quiet grace/elegance that Halloween and White Camilla have. Its not bad, but its definitely a spring/summer/vacation-to-a-tropical-place perfume. I don't mind the sugar, but this is definitely not my idea of an everyday perfume. 6 out of 10

Act 2 by Escada

Woman's. Type: Spicy Green Florals. On the front Act 2 is blatantly weird, but not in an unlikable way. As it works it's way into your senses, Act 2 becomes amazingly interesting and rather complex, but its still tinged with sweetness.
The top notes are very floral, you get the rose, the peony, and the orchid. Mid notes are a little strange and green... maybe the peony and the freesia??? Base notes are deeply spicy... rich in cinnamon and what seems to be black or green pepper. There's still the fresh green scent, and the florals, but the rose has all but disappeared. The green scent I realize is an herbal note... herbal, like my herb cabinet, but not quite as overpowering!! I'm getting a bit of the sandalwood, just on the base note... but like the rose, it's pretty much nonexistent.

This Eau de Parfum is really thick, makes me wonder what the ratio, oils to alcohol, they used.

Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation!!!! And a Great Cause...

It finally came!!! I will absolutely post a review on it once I've tried, probably on both Youtube and on here. First impressions. Silky!! It feels like a primer, and yes it does contain Silica. After removing this foundation, my skin feels super soft like actual silk, really hydrated and smooth. It seems to blend really well, even without a primer underneath it. Color is AMAZINGLY pale!!!! This foundation will need a setting powder!

This Thursday I'll have a chance to try it, because my boyfriend's mom is hosting a costume party for Movember. The theme of this year's party is: Heroes and Villains... so is should be the perfect place! The party will be held in Aspen, and I believe its open to the public... if not, Just tell them that your Penny's Guest! (Can't guarantee anything, but worth a try. ^_^')

Movember: “The Mo, slang for moustache, and November come together each year for Movember.

Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache. The rules are simple, start Movember 1st clean-shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month. The moustache becomes the ribbon for men’s health, the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men. Much like the commitment to run or walk for charity, the men of Movember commit to growing a moustache for 30 days.

The idea for Movember was sparked in 2003 over a few beers in Melbourne, Australia. The plan was simple – to bring the moustache back as a bit of a joke and do something for men’s health. No money was raised in 2003, but the guys behind the Mo realized the potential a moustache had in generating conversations about men’s health. Inspired by the women around them and all they had done for breast cancer, the Mo Bros set themselves on a course to create a global men’s health movement.

In 2004 the campaign evolved and focused on raising awareness and funds for the number one cancer affecting men – prostate cancer. 432 Mo Bros joined the movement that year, raising $55,000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia - representing the single largest donation they had ever received.

The Movember moustache has continued to grow year after year, expanding to the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland, Spain, South Africa, the Netherlands and Finland.

In 2009, global participation of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas climbed to 255,755, with over one million donors raising $42 Million US equivalent dollars for Movember’s global beneficiary partners.”

I got this directly from the Movember Foundation website: Here's the link...http://us.movemberfoundation.com/
I think this is a great cause because Prostate cancer is one of the least talked about cancers, and all of the proceeded go to finding a cure! You can find out more about Movember by clicking that link and going to the “About Movember” tab.

So I guess that's all I have for now... I will post the location of the party as soon as I can.

I GOT MY KEYBOARD!!! And Rant on Ubuntu...

???????????????
:( ;(
()()()()()
999999999999
sssssssssss

Muahahahhahahahahahahahahaha!!!!! That's all of the characters I couldn't type before yesterday!!!! Which means I just got mu new keyboard and I'm super happy!!! Now I'm reformatting...

BTW Ubuntu, the netbook version, Unity, SUCKS!!!! I can't move the application/task bar.... WTF.. Ubuntu is supposed to be the MOST customizable Software out there.... So Why is it that I can't have the Task bar exactly where I want it??? Okay I wouldn't mind if it was a slim task bare like the top and bottom bars in Ubuntu... but this thing is HUGE!!! It takes up so much room on the left hand side of the monitor that I can barely focus on anything else!!! And you can't make it disappear!! Like the windows task bar.. which I love, but I'm sick of getting viruses!!! Fucking Trojans!!! Piss me off all the time.... every time I look up Kanji I get a fucking virus!!!! Why? Idk... supposedly Asian web sites are notorious for viruses... I know, I know, SUPER stereotypical... but whatever...

Back to the Task Bar... I guess if your Vertically minded it would be okay, but I'm not, in fact, most people aren't. And no it isn't something I can just GET USED TO... I can't focus because its vertical... Its simply not how I think or function. And If your going to use Gnome... then why have the netbook version at all... Especially when the desktop version is soooooooooo much more customizable...

My Solution... I'm going to try Ubuntu Mint, which is supposedly more like Windows...

Okay, I've ranted enough... If anyone has questions or something to add, please leave me a comment!

S.O.P.H.I.E.

Today was Sophie Lancaster's Birthday, she would have been 24. S.O.P.H.I.E. stands for Stamp Out Prejudice, Hate, & Intolerance Everywhere. I know Illamasqua is one place where you can donate to the Sophie Lancaster Foundation, there are others too, mostly theater companies. If you don't know who Sophie Lancaster was, she was, in my opinion, a BEAUTIFUL young woman, who was viciously attacked by a group of teens for being Goth. Her and her boyfriend were walking home from a park and were attacked. Her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, recovered, though he was in a coma for quite a while. Sophie actually saved his life by covering him with her body! Sophie, however, never regained consciousness and later died from the wounds she had sustained.

This, for sure, isn't the only place that an attack like this has occurred, but it did get pretty astounding media attention. But today is one of those days where we "Subculture Freaks", a term I use Lovingly, can really band together. No matter where we place on the subculture field, this is one of those days we can really support each other.

S.O.P.H.I.E

Happy Thanksgiving!

Even thought I don't exactly practice this holiday, I think its a nice custom. I hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday!

Why I don't Use Waterproof...

When I was first getting into makeup, I would always wear waterproof mascara. Alas, it was so hard to take off that I eventually just kept it on. Now I wasn't one of those girls that would pack it on everyday, I'd apply my mascara on Monday and wear it till Friday. I know that that's complete un-hygienic, but what can I say... I was young, and foolish.... After a while though I started to notice my eyesight getting worse... not just my eyesight.... but because my eyes are SUPER sensitive they would almost always be irritated. So I eventually just stopped wearing mascara, and when I got back into it, I, now, only wear the regular kind. Honestly, I don't notice a difference between regular and waterproof. Any mascara is going to wear off in the pool... but I don't really cry, the rain/snow doesn't seem to effect it, I don't get smudges, and I don't get clumping. The only difference I notice is that regular mascara is sooooo much easier to get off.

Review: Disana Muslin Facial Cloths

I recently ordered this from ebay, my seller was schoopanella_oznz... Great seller definitely worth checking out!!!! Originally, I wasn't going to do a review on these, but they actually work really well!!! I bought this three pack for about eight dollars minus shipping. These cloths work amazingly!!! Even after using them once, my skin is smoother, softer, and the rest of my acne is clearing up!! I first learned about Muslin cloths from Klaire de Lys... she's amazing and I also recommend her. This link is to her blog, but she also has a youtube. I've been using these for about a week, little less, and their 100% cotton. I hand wash mine, but the package says they can be machine washed ans tumbled dry on low heat. To use these cloths, you simply wet the cloth, wipe your face to wet it, apply your cleaner, NOT EXFOLIATOR!!! These cloths exfoliate your skin naturally! Then wash you face as usual. 10 out of 10.

Review: Juliette has a Gun: Not a Perfume

This is a soli-note fragrance... and that note is Ambroxan. I like this scent... Ambroxan is a substitute for Ambergris, yes that ambergris that I love!!! Its sweet but deep and musky...I can see why they use it as a substitute. While it has characteristics of Ambergris, the musk and warmth, you can never really compare it to the real thing... Its sweetness is just too floral to be Ambergris... who's sweetness is more.... animalic I suppose... Its interesting and I like it, but not as much as Ambergris.
10 out of 10
This just in from Wiki... "It shows aphrodisiac effects on animals."
See for yourself!!!
Ambroxan

Serendipitous By Serendipity 3

This a fragrance from World Renown Ice Creamer Serendipity 3... who makes the most expensive ice cream treat in the world, The Frrrozen Haute Chocolate. This scent smells exactly like toasted marshmallows!! Not something I'd wear... but its kinda fun to have a play around with! Doesn't develop much, but the vanilla hangs in pretty well... and the blood orange is no where to be seen... smelt. Overall its not bad, a little metallic, but that kinda softens the sweetness.

Buxom Big Healthy Lip Polish: Ginger

This is a review of Bare Mineral's Buxom Big Healthy Lip Polish in Ginger. For a Lip Plumper, I love this!!! Its stimulating, but soothing and hydrating at the same time!!! Its not sticky, has an amazing glass-like finish, and even though Ginger is a sheer Lip Polish, the color payoff is really good! This Lip plumper really works well for plumping the lip. I payed 18 dollars for this product and for the amount and the effect, its worth every penny!!! Definitely recommend this product! 10 out of 10

Calvin Klein: Beauty

Type: Woman's Bouquet: Sweet Florals. This fragrance is very mild, even though its moderate in strength. Honestly, it smells like half a dozen other fragrances I've smelled before. It has a white musk aspect like White Diamonds, Camellia from Halloween or White Camellia. Overall its sweet and floral, and doesn't develop much on the skin. Its pretty, but doesn't stand about the other pretty scents out there. 6 out of 10

Review: Bare Minerals Prime Time Prep Kit

I bought this kit for twenty nine dollars. It included the Prime Time Foundation Primer, Eye Rev-er Upper, and and the Skin Rev-er Upper.

1) Prime Time: This was the first primer I had ever used, and I actually really like it. Even though it is silica based, it doesn't clog my pores very much. Its very Moisturizing! 8 out of 10

2) Eye Rev-er Upper: This is sparkly... so I'm not very fond of it. I don't think its very moisturizing, but it does absorb really easily. 5 out of 10

3) Skin Rev-er Upper: I'm not that fond of this product either. Its not very moisturizing either, but again it, does absorb really easily. 6 out of 10

Review: Bare Minerals Brushes

I like these brushes pretty well. I received these brushes in the starter kit.

1) Precision Concealer Brush: Probably my favorite brush. Its great for eyeliner, because its a large flat rounded brush. Its also great for eyeshadow. 10 out of 10

2)Flawless Face: I like this brush for setting foundation, but I don't have a use for it otherwise. It has a tendency to shed, as well. 6 out of 10

3) Handy Buki: I like this brush for blush, highlighter, and bronzer. Its great for blending. 8 out of 10

4)Max Coverage Concealer: I love this brush for eyeshadow and concealer. 7 out of 10

Review: Rare Minerals; Blemish Therapy

I bought this for 28 dollars. I'm okay with this but I don't usually use it. Mainly because it really sinks into the pores and because of the smell. It has sulfur in in, so for the same reason I can't use the Mario Badescu Drying Cream. The scent is very sulfuric. The color is really yellow, too. 5 out of 10

Review: Bare Minerals Eyeshadow

This I love!!! I think, if you shop Bare Minerals, you should definitely buy the eyeshadows or the lip glosses!!! I love Bare Minerals for these products alone! This was a gift, when I as a customer. I have the color Starlight. Its beautiful for foiled looks, its sort of a champagne shimmer/sheen. Its a loose pigment; personally I love loose pigments for their versatility. As an eyeliner, for foiling, for highlighters, loose pigments are the best... but for an eyeliner I don't think this one would work, simply because it has glitter. Even when only used with water, this pigment doesn't move at all! 10 out of 10!

Review: Bare Minerals Concealer

I received this as a free gift when I was a customer of Bare Minerals. Its spf 20, and I have this in the lightest color which is Bisque. This works okay as a concealer, but it is really dark for me. I can actually use this as a bronzer... it works better for me than Warmth... which is super dark for me. 3 out of 10

Review: Bare Minerals: Mineral Veil

This is nineteen dollars, but I received it in the starter kit. The foundations are $28 each. I think the kit was fifty nine dollars. This is the original Mineral Veil, I haven't tried the others. This I usually use as a setting powder, but it makes me look orange and muddy, even though its a "Transparent" powder. When used as a setting powder for liquid foundation it works pretty well, but it really sinks into the pores. 4 out of 10

Review: Bare Minerals Foundation

I have both Fair and Fairly Light, neither of them work very well on me. Their both too dark. Even Mineral Vail is too dark on me and makes me look rather muddy. These foundations have no coverage and no staying power. They tend to be pretty drying, as well. I have the original, I haven't tried the matte, simply because I dislike the foundation and I really don't think its worth the money. 2 out of 10

Review: Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse Foundation

I like this product for the texture and the coverage. It also lasts a really long time. I have this foundation in Porcelain Ivory, the lightest color they have. Its too dark for me and its warm, so I usually mix it with my Covergirl Clean foundation, since that's cool. It really does give you an airbrushed finish and its very hydrating! 8 out of 10, just wish is was a better color.

Review: Covergirl Clean Foundation

Color: Ivory. Skin Type: Sensitive. I live this foundation simply for the color, but as it turns out, if used alone it looks redish...not even like you have red skin, it looks pretty artificial. It's very sheer, and very thin... you definitely need a setting powder for this one... I usually mix this with Maybelline Dream Liquid Mousse which works pretty efficiently. Overall, its a 6 out of 10.

Review: Revlon Beyond Natural Skin Matching Foundation

This is one of the worst products I've ever bought!! And the thing is that everyone loves this stuff! I haven't read a bad review... So here's one! The color, mine is light, is sooooo muddy and dark, I can't use it since I never tan. The color is like orange-tan-ish brown. The product is runny... watery. It just pours out of the tube and you can never get the right amount. Its like seven dollars, but I could have saved that for something else... I've used this with a primer, which thickens it slightly, but it tends to sink into the pores without primer. Its very drying!!! Honestly, I can't say much else about this foundation since I didn't keep it on my skin for more than a half hour! It really sucks, cause I LOVE Revlon products! Sorry Revlon, maybe have a Super Light... then we'll talk. 1 out of 10

Update... 11/17/10

I ordered the riche liquid foundation from Illamasqua... finally! We'll see how it works when it gets here and I'll do a review. Lets hope it works and I don't have to return anything... I've also gotten a new keyboard for my comp, so I'll have working nine and question mark keys. *just in case you were wondering why I haven't been typing either of these*

E.L.F cosmetics

Otherwise known as eyes, lips, face. I wanted to purchase some items from this site, but its yet another site that apparently doesn't have a paypal option.... Which sucks... but what are you going to do. Thing is, is that there was a little paypal seal at the bottom of the page. Can any one explain this.

Private Selecton: Rooibos Tea

Tea: Rooibos. This tea is Caffeine free, and only contains rooibos. Does the scent of some teas remind anyone else of crushed bugs!??????! Sometimes black teas, and I suppose this one now, smell exactly like insects to me... its very strange, and reminds me of my childhood killing grasshoppers! Anyway, this tea is red-ish brown, and smells like wet leaves in autumn, or crushed insects.... The honey kind of takes over the flavor of this tea, otherwise it pretty much tastes like leaves; its pleasant.

Review: Tazo: Zen

Tea: Green/herbal. Ingredients: Green tea, Lemon Verbena, Spearmint, and Lemongrass. The scent it herbal, the color is green-gold, and you can definitely taste the green tea and the spearmint. The taste is clean, but its not my favorite tea. There's something grassy about it, like chamomile.

Review: Juliette has a Gun: Calamity J

This is an interesting scent, a little spicy, a little sweet, and a little airy. You take the scent into your nose, and then it pretty much disappears until you take another breath. Patchouli, brings the spice, so its a sort of woody spice. Its very light though, like you wouldn't guess patchouli as an ingredient. The Amber supplies the warmth in this perfume. I don't smell Iris, but I'm thinking the Musc is the really airy note. Overall, its pleasant, but Calamity just doesn't have enough substance for a girl like me! 6 Stars.

Bois D'Iris and Midnight Oud

Bois D'Iris definitely softens the blow, but plastic win out. Honestly, I'm kind of liking theses two. Bois has a tendency to up and leave mid-sentence and Midnight is just hostile! The plastic is starting to become hushed; this is about five minutes in. Its a little nice with the dryness of the iris, they are the odd pair that actually might have a chance at happiness, as well as everyone around them! Its still artificial, but I think I can wear this!

Illamasqua Rich Liquid Foundation... and my comment to another blogger.

I commented this to Alienman at http://goldfishcake.com I thought I stated it pretty well, so I'm copying it here, and hoping someone will comment and give me advice...

Okay so, I've been stalking this foundation for a while now, I'm not sure I'm ready to commit.... Especially if it turns out that it will be a gold digger and be a waste of money and time! The reason I want to try this is because I'm SUPER fair with neutral undertones, and this is the only company I've found that seems to have a shade that might fit me, and is full coverage. But, I am fair, and pale skin an sensitivity go hand in hand! I break out very easily, I have a lot of redness, and I have large pores around my nose. Illamasqua just got a paypal option, which is one reason I wasn't going to buy, but now my excuses are dwindling, and I'm getting pretty desperate for an AMAZING foundation...

Keep in mind this foundation is 21 euro for 30 ml... about 28 dollars, not to mention shipping... So I'd like it to be pretty perfect...

Happy Veterans Day!

Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for all of your hard work, everybody!

Review: Zhena's Gypsy Tea; Coconut Chai

I love this brand and this specific tea! This is probably my favorite of the line. This Chai is a blend of Ceylon and Assam black tea, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, cloves, orange peel, nutmeg, black pepper, and coconut. This tea is all natural, organic, and certified Fair Trade, which I really support! It has about 40mg of Caffeine. The problem I've found with this tea, is that, to get a strong brew... you have to pretty extensively boil the tea bag, even then I add two. So it is a fairly weak tea, but its super delicious. I definitely recommend this! Zhena's Gypsy Tea.

Cosmetic Acne

I believe I have cosmetic acne, probably from using an exfoliator that is too abrasive, and from using too many skin care products... Even natural skin care can cause cosmetic acne, and men can get this as well. Something to remember is.... not all oils will clog your pores... one of these is sunflower seed oil.

Right now I'm really hating my skin... I have acne all around my mouth area, this can be a sign of hormone imbalance, by the way, so it kinda looks like I have herpes..... Yay.... But I know for a fact that I don't have herpes, because I've been tested for it. I'm going to only wash my face once a week with a cleanser for a while and see how that works. Otherwise, I'll just use water...

Review: Numi; Emperor's Puerh

Tea: Black. This is an organic broad leaf tea, grown in the Yunnan Mountains. This is black tea, so id does contain caffeine. Puerh is fermented and aged for a period ranging from months to years. I prefer to have it tea with honey and cream, but the cream turns, the otherwise dark brown tea, pink!!! Its really strange, but the cream really brings out the malt flavor of the tea. The box says that the tea has "A dark Sienna" tone, which explains the pink tone. I'm a big fan of black teas, there one of my favorites, and this is one of the best teas that I've tried.

Review: Celestial Seasonings; Mint Magic

*I drink almost all tea with honey, except Orange Spice teas, Greens, and Whites. So I suppose this should be kept in mind since what you put into your tea can most definitely change the flavor.

I'm okay with this tea. Its caffeine free. Contains: Spearmint, Peppermint, Roasted Chicory, Cinnamon, and Orange peel. Its not my favorite mint tea, but its alright. This tea is very fragrant; the taste is also very potent. Basically, it tastes and smells of mint...lolz The color is transparent, herbal green, and, of course, it comes in a bag. I'm more a fan of loose leaf, but bagged tea can be just as good.

How young is too young... drinking

I've drank quite a bit in my lifetime, even though I'm only 18. It all started when I was a child, a glass of wine with dinner, a little beer every once in a while. When I was twelve, I started drinking more varied sorts of liquor and alcoholic beverages. It was around then that I realized I couldn't get drunk, I could get pretty buzzed, but never drunk. So I always watched my limit, cause if you can't get drunk, You won't pass out if you've had too much... and I'm always afraid of Alcohol Poisoning. So even though I drink and I'm young, I tend to be pretty responsible and follow moderation. Since I've turned 18, I've started to really have an opinion about alcohol and the legal age limit. And honestly, I think Japan has a better policy than America, their legal age limit for everything is 20. So when you turn 20 you are an adult, capable of making your own choices and having all of your rights available to you. I mean, I can die for my country, I can drive, I can smoke and buy tobacco; as well as other smoke-ables like Salvia Divinorum, I can vote, I can stay out as late as I want, but I can't have a beer with my dad. Or buy a bottle of wine to cook with.... To me this just seems ridiculous. I'm an adult, but not really, because I don't have all of my rights as a citizen.... So the two solutions that I can think of... 1) Raise the age of becoming an adult to 21, or 2) lower the drinking age to 18.

Problems with #1.
If a draft comes, there will be far less people that can go into the military.

You'll have to have your parents with you in college. *to sign papers and stuff.*

If you work late to support a family, then you have to be home by city issued curfew.

Wards of the state will be in custody longer and that will cost A LOT of money.

Problems with #2.
Drunk driving will probably increase, but adults do this ALL THE TIME anyway.

Alcohol consumption will increase.

Best places online to shop for perfume:

In no particular order...

Fragrancenet.com They ALWAYS have deals and coupons, they ship really quickly and go above and beyond when it comes to packaging. Their selection is amazing, but they don't have everything, its important to keep that in mind, but you can request items.

Luckyscent.com This is a great place to shop hard to find perfume. They have an amazing selection if your looking for something in particular. They ship quickly, and have A LOT of information on the brands and the perfumers.

The Perfume Court I've only look around on this site. I like the look and feel of it, and find it to be easy to navigate. They have a great selection, and this is the only site I've found that is willing to send out samples of Secretions Magnifique.

Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab I love the scents, and their selection! They create all of their fragrances which is really nice. I love the historical and literary references.

Cigars: Color

Double Claro: Very Light, slightly green in color. The green of the wrapper means that the leaves are picked before they reach maturity, I assume the reason is the same as with white tea, it heightens the sweetness.

Claro: Very Light Tan. This means that the tobacco is shade grown which also heightens the sweetness.

Colorado Claro: Not this doesn't have anything to do with the state, it has to do with the color red... Colorado in Spanish is the COLOR RED... This tobacco will have a slightly red-tan color.

Colorado: Red tobacco, also called Rosado.

Colorado Maduro: Darker red-brown. Usually comes from Africa and comes from Cuban seed.

Maduro: Dark Brown. Primarily American and South American grown.

Oscuro: VERY dark Black, often oily looking.

Great News from Illamasqua!!!

They now accept Paypal!!! I'm so delighted to hear this news, I have a debit card and I've always wanted to try some foundation from Illamasqua!! Shopping online with a debit is very dangerous, more dangerous than shopping with a credit card! So I use paypal for everything, and I'm really happy that now I can shop my favorite makeup website with peace of mind!

Did you know...

That Sakura, Japanese cherry blossom trees, is actually just a flowering Cherry. Meaning, the tree doesn't bare fruit! I've always thought that Sakura were actually cherry trees. I must admit, it is a bit disappointing... I had this romantic vision of Hanami, flower viewing in spring; then in summer, returning to that tree to collect the fruit; and in autumn, watching the leaves change. So I'm a little sad to find out that they don't bare fruit. They're still beautiful though!

Cigars... To band or not to band....

Er... That's an awkward statement...

Okay so what I'm referring to is the band that comes on Cigars. Some people say, "Take the band off, its tradition!" Others, like myself, say, "Keep it on, if you rip the wrapper the WHOLE thing could come undone!" Honestly, cigar smoking is all about personal preference. There ARE NO 'bad' cigars, there can be poorly made cigars, but really what you smoke all comes down to personal taste. I would advise keeping the band on until you've maybe smoked two thirds of the cigar, because you can rip the wrapper, which can compromise the structural integrity of the cigar. This can result in a very bad smoking experience. If you allow enough time before removing the band, the warmth from the lit cigar will soften the vegetable adhesive enough for you to safely remove the band. If you do choose to remove the band prior to this, please be very careful! For your own sake as well as out of respect for the cigar maker, since many cigars are hand made, which takes a Monumental amount of time, experience, patience, and skill!! Cigar making and smoking is both a ritual and an art, and when fully appreciated can be a really beautiful experience!

I am curious to see what other people think about this subject. Also, if you feel like I've left something out, or if I didn't explain something fully, please feel free to comment.

Birthday Shout Out!

Happy Birthday Dad! I believe he is 73 today... Idk I can't keep up with that man!

Movie Reviews: Paranormal Activity 2

I just went to see this film on Tuesday. I really liked Paranormal Activity, I found the low budget docu-drama style to be fairly appealing, so I went to see the second. I'm going to try not to spoil, but this movie is a prequel to Paranormal Activity. They, rather successfully, add a slight back story, which sort of explains things a bit. Here's what I don't like about Western Horror Movies, the Screamers. Now if your movie savvy, then you'll already know what a screamer is, but for those of you who don't its a LOUD noise, usually high pitched, like a scream, followed by a sudden movement. This isn't scary, but it almost always causes a reaction. True fear is silent, it's a absolutely foreboding feeling, or the absolute feeling of dread. This has everything to do with the plot and the acting, and very little to do with special effects or editing. Fear is much harder to create, while screamers offer cheap thrills! So, back to my point, PA2 has A LOT of screamers, but it also makes you think. It makes you question, though I must admit, some of the questions are, in fact, questioning the acting, plot, special effects, ect. I honestly wonder where they are going to take this film next. I do hope there is a third, but I hope it doesn't go past that. *cough, cough* SAW *cough, cough*

Citizen Queen and Tiptoeing!!!

These two, Juliette Has a Gun; Citizen Queen and Tiptoeing Through the Chambers of the Moon, smell mouthwatering-ly good together. No surprise there, but Tiptoeing does sort of take over, while Citizen Queen just fades to black. But Citizen Queen seems to add a sort of oudy note, a PLEASANT Oudy note! Unlike the oud in Midnight Oud, this note is like vanilla plastic... new doll plastic. Its kind of wonderful, soft and dry and nostalgic... Maybe the Coconut in Tiptoeing mixed with the Labdanum in Citizen Queen... Idk, but I do recommend this as a try out!

Happy All Souls Day and Voter day!!

I hope everyone who hasn't voted votes and yesterday was All Souls Day. I just wanted to say something about it....

Bright Blessings on this Samhain

It is Summer's End! Samhain is one of the most holy nights of the year for Celts. I wish everyone Bright Blessings and good fortune for the upcoming year. Today is the day when the border between this world and the Otherworld is weak and the spirits of the dead can come into our world freely. This is not to be confused with the Summer Solstice, in which the veil is also weak and the Aoi Sidhe can cross into our domain. Aoi Sidhe are the decedents of the gods. In my culture, we also have "ghost dancers", at least this is how I translate it. The dancers paint their bodies with white mud, and dance naked or nearly naked. If you have ever witnessed the Sankai Juku dancers in Japan, then that is very similar to the Ghost Dancers. Samhain is held for three nights, 30, 31, and 1. It is the midpoint between the Autumnal Equinox and the Winter Solstice, at least on the lunar calendar. Celts used both a Solar and Lunar Calendar to mark the dates. On Samhain the Feile na Marbh, or Festival of the Dead, in which we honor and celebrate the live of those who have passed before us. As well as, the death of nature and the end of the harvest.

Cigars... Java by Drew Estate

I am a avid cigar smoker, I love cigars in all of their varieties and flavors!! My favorite brand is Java from Drew Estate, which makes square/rectangular shaped cigars, for which I have no other name for. I love the flavor, its strong, but chocolaty and tastes a little like espresso. The Nicaraguan blend is amazing in the Java. the flavor of this cigar is well rounded, so this would be good for the inexperienced smoker as well as the connoisseur.

September/October Favorite Products 2010

This is just a break down of some of the products I've been using recently...

1) Suave Rosemary and Mint Shampoo and Conditioner: This is soooo cheap, yet sooo effective. It leaves my hair super smooth and the fragrance is fantastic! It cleanses really well and leaves my hair shiny and manageable. I bought both of these products for about $3.

2) Back to Nature Silk Serum: I've been loving this product, it makes my hair much less frizzy and protects really well. My hair is super glossy with this product, and I do feel that it helps my split ends. You can also use it on your body, which is nice, and it doesn't clog my pores. I usually use it on my hair and after I shave my legs. The fragrance is heavy, but pleasant, and is somewhere between petroleum jelly and lilac. Sounds weird, but its not terrible. A bottle of 6oz is $13.

3) Listerine Whitening strips: I love these. They haven;t caused me any sensitivity problems and they work really well. They do make my mouth sticky afterward, so you might consider brushing afterward. These were $13.

4) Arm & Hammer Whitening Booster: This product is used with toothpaste and is really effective at whitening one's teeth. It was pretty cheap too. This was $7.

5)Listerine Whitening Pen: I Love this product, you can use it right after lunch or whenever you feel like you need to freshen up. It makes your teeth feel super smooth and whitens really well. This was $7.

6) Pond's Cleansing Towelettes: I Love how these smell. I have the Evening Soothe fragrance. It removes all of my makeup, even waterproof mascara, and they leave my skin feeling really refreshed and cleansed. These were about $3.

7) Lash Stiletto Voluptuous: I love this formula. It lengthens and the color is pitch black. The wand is a little awkward to use sometimes, but its still a great product. This was $8.

8) L'oreal colour Riche Lipstick: I have this product in Royal Red. The pigmentation is incredible and I love the texture! It smells like sweet red roses and is super conditioning. I think this was about $7.

Otsu-ichi's Goth; manga

I actually really like this short series, it was gory, beautifully written, psychological, and the plot was super intense. I only wish there was some color, red at least. But as with all art color could either enhance or cheapen, so I understand why they played it safe. This is actually the third manga I've ever read, and I'm actually considering reading the novel. I've never really like manga, but suppose I'm starting to get more into them.

Circumcision

I completely disagree with circumcision... I think its a terrible, barbaric practice. I can't imagine being a mother and having my newborn son taken to a room and mutilated, all the while screaming his head off! It really disgusts me. It's completely unnecessary and can actually be really dangerous! The foreskin is meant to protect the penis from debris, such as fecal matter, without the foreskin the penis is completely unprotected! Many times this can lead to serious infection, it can even cause necrosis in the entire penis and then the penis can actually fall off. In circumstances like this gender reassignment surgery is usually the coarse of treatment. Why do people think this is necessary... why do modern cultures find this necessary... Circumcision doesn't prevent AIDS, safe sex practices do. People don't need to be mutilated they need better sex ed! Circumcision doesn't calm men; in fact, studies have shown that circumcision cause long term psychological problems, not just physical problems. Anger issues, erectile dysfunction, infections, impotence, skin bridges, infertility, and so many others. I believe circumcision is a huge problem for men and women alike.

Men are so dumb when it comes to women.....

This is the Best Representative pict I've found!
Right now I'm talking about breasts!!! I'm sooooo glad that I am a bisexual woman... its so much easier. I like a nice pair of breasts and much as the next guy... girl...eh! But men are soo dumb, half the time they look at a woman in a push-up bra, or even worse; a padded bra, and think that they're natural!!! Many times it too obvious that is a push-up bra and the men get disappointed later... Then they complain.... to me... *sigh* what am I going to do with these boys... LEARN TO TELL THE DIFFERENCE!!!! I had to, not that it took to much time or effort, but come on!!

A note on Ambergris

I love Ambergris, and I love animals. I never condone the practice of poaching or the harming of any animals in any way. With that said, here is a little info I dug up on Ambergris and its history. I will cite these sources at the end.

Ambergris: a Solid, waxy substance from the digestive system of the Sperm Whale. Known in its true form to smell very intensely; however, as this product ages it acquires a sweet aroma. It has been used as a fixative in perfumery for ages, though in recent years has been mostly replaced with synthetics.

Ambergris can be found floating on sea water and on beaches and in no way does it require harming the Sperm Whale. In fact, the highest quality ambergris is found this way. Being exposed to air and elements removes the distinctive bile/fecal odor the Ambergris originally has.

American perfumers usually avoid it due to legal ambiguities. It was banned from use in many countries in the 1970s, including the United States, because its precursor originates from the Sperm Whale, which is an endangered species. However it has been legal since 2005 due to strict monitoring of distributors who ensure that only ambergris that has been naturally washed to shore is sold.

This information has been taken from Wikipedia.

Glossary For Fragrances... kinda

Absolute - Also known as an essence. An absolute is the most potent aromatic product made from a base product. It differs from an essential oil in that it’s produced through an extraction process that uses volatile solvents. The extracted solid material is then combined with alcohol to produce the absolute. Absolutes are also darker in color than essential oils.

Accord - An accord is a blend of two or three fragrances to produce a third unique fragrance, with none of the original fragrances being detectable. When you smell an accord, you only smell one distinct fragrance, not the original fragrances that were combined.

Aldehyde - An aldehyde is a highly-reactive chemical compound made by oxidizing different alcohols to make resins and organic acids.

Amber - Fir tree resin, in its regular, non-fossilised form is used in perfumery and offers a rather sweet, warm and deep, sensuous smell that serves as a base to anchor the other ingredients that are place on top of this less volatile ingredient. Amber is also a general term – according to the French system – to describe the perfumes that fall in the Oriental group and have a warm, slightly powdery, erotic, animalic tonality to them.

Ambergris - A sperm whale secretion. Sperm whales produce it to protect their stomachs from the beaks of the cuttlefish they swallow. Ambergris was traditionally used as a fixative, but in modern perfumery, ambergris is usually of synthetic origin. Ambergris is described as having a sweet, woody odor. Most commercial perfumes today use a synthetic replacement because it is so expensive.

Attar - An extremely expensive essential oil made from the Bulgarian rose.

Castoreum - A secretion from the Castor beaver, or a synthetic substitute. Used to impart a leathery aroma to a fragrance.

Civet - The african civet cat looks like a fox, and is related to the mongoose. Civet musk is produced by a gland at the base of the cat's tail. Pure civet is said to have a strong, disagreeable odor, but in small quantities to add depth and warmth to a fragrance and a sweaty/musky note that is considered very erotic and pairs extremely well with floral notes.. In addition, civet acts as an excellent fixative. Most modern fragrances use synthetic substitutes.

Heady - Heady fragrances make you feel light-headed, exhilarated or stimulated.

Hesperidia - A general term for citrus oils.

Labdanum - An aromatic gum that originates from the rockrose bush. The sweet woody odor is said to mimic ambergris and can also be used to impart a leather note.

Musk - Coming from a glandular secretion of the male Tibetan musk deer, this was considered an aphrodisiac in the past. The practice of extracting the musk was difficult so the deer was killed in the process and the practice nowadays is extinct. New synthetic musks have now been created.

Opoponax - Also know as sweet myrrh. Has a sweet, balsam-like , lavender-like fragrance when used as incense.

Oud - Sometimes spelled oudh or aoud. The Arabic word for wood. In perfumery it usually refers to wood from the agar tree.

All of these were taken from the Glossary provided on the website of The Perfumed Court. Click here to be directed to this page...

Aikido

I've been studying Aikido for about two semesters, and I really love it. Its very challenging and makes me really work on my posture and my balance. The class is at the local college, where I regularly attend. Its a one credit coarse, which means its about 49 dollars per quarter. I don't know if I'll do it next quarter... it will be winter and I'll have to ride the bus at 9 o'clock at night. We'll see though.

Update

I didn't get the job, but I've heard that October is the Month for Jobs in Colorado! So I'm still hopeful. I didn't get the job because there was a mix up with the database and it put me down as being available anytime. So I wasn't available enough for them. Its annoying, but it happens. I'm kinda glad though... I knew after the first interview that if I got this job, I wouldn't be with the company for long. Its just too stressful of a job for me. Too fast pace, especially when I don't have ANY experience as a cashier... So be it.

Fragrance: Lady Vengence + Miss Charming

I recently mixed these two scents, and it ended up being AMAZING!!! The rose really intensified!!! The sweetness was dampened and a somewhat smokey musk came into being. I can't wait to try mixing the others, I hope I can 'fix' Midnight Oud.... So at least I can wear it out in public.

Heroes...

Is a show that I'm really getting into, I never thought I would! My fave characters are Claire Bennet, Hiro Nakamura,Ando Masahashi, Niki Sanders, and Peter Petrelli. But I'm only on the sixth episode, so we'll see who I like more later on... I know, I know.... I getting into this super late. But I've been preoccupied with True Blood... lolz The good thing is, I can get all of the episodes at once on Net flicks.... So I don't have to wait a week to see a new episode, which is nice.

Yay Job Interview!!!

Okay so yesterday I received a call from Walmart... and on Monday I have an interview. I have no idea if I'll get the job, because of my hours. But I really hope I do and everything works out well.

Review: Juliette has a Gun: Midnight Oud

(Woman's)(Plastic???!!!) This fragrance is VERY oud-y... on the front it almost smells of burnt rubber... Now I'm getting a little bit of the rose, but it still smells industrial... I get the amber, the incense, but it smells like smog, in Shanghai.... After about three minuets it starts to sweeten and smooth out a little. But then it smells like doll... like new doll out of the box. And there is also something medicinal about it.... It kind of weirds me out in a weird way... Jeeze I can't even describe it... It's kind of like that weird awkward friend.... You like it but a little goes a long way! 5 out of 10(this might change...maybe)

Review: Juliette has a Gun: Citizen Queen

(Woman's)(Amber Incense) I like this one... I'm not in love yet though... Top notes: Amber, Iris, and something like vanilla. Mid Notes: subtle leather... Bottom Notes: Labdanum. But its a very sweet labdanum. Now that's its worn, its kind of grown on me... The sweetness has mellowed to a cognac sort of sweetness... But the Iris gets powdery, which is a little disappointing, I was hoping for a drier Iris. Still, its appealing! 9 out of 10

Review: Juliette has a Gun: Lady Vengeance

(Woman's)(Sweet Incense)Top notes: at first I got a rose, but it suddenly disappeared!!! Then something smokey and soft comes billowing in... But there's also this sweetness... Like sweet apples...or berries.... and then I get the vanilla. This fragrance is soooooo much sweeter than I thought it would be... I was hoping for more musk, leather, deep rose, and smoke, less silk and cashmere... Don't get me wrong, its a great scent, but not what I was really hoping for... 7 out of 10

Review: Juliette has a Gun: Miss Charming

(Woman's)(Rose)Very simple, elegant, and sweet, but in the best way!!! Top Notes: Rose and soft musk, the musk then sweetens and blends amazingly with the rose. This fragrance is so soft and sweet. I love it and I think it would be great as a first date perfume. 10 out of 10!

Check out the Juliette Has A Gun website!!

Review: Pilar & Lucy Tiptoeing Through the Chambers of the Moon

(Woman's)(Amber Incense)I Love this!!! It reminds me of all the best scents in a Head shop... No Joke! By that I don't mean dirty hippie, marijuana, or old bong water... I mean Incense!!! Top notes: Amber and Sweet Incense.(these are carried through, but it's the first thing I smelled...) Mid Notes: Coconut, cinnamon, and something that reminds me of tea... (again these scents are carried through.) Bottom Notes: are a marvelous combination of all of these things... 10 out of 10!!!

I got this Eau de Parfume from Luckyscents.com

This is what they said about it..
Smoldering amber and seductive tuberose come together in this enigmatic and soulful elixir. This is the olfactory calling card for the girl who knows her equinoxes and solstices, can point out every constellation in the night sky, and just might have a pack of tarot cards in her purse – but you won’t catch her in muddy sandals. She’s far too glamorous for that. Much like the woman who wears it, Tiptoeing Through Chambers Of The Moon keeps complex secrets, and only reveals enough to keep ‘em guessing. Mysterious, alluring and ethereal…spinning a warm and sexy web that one can’t help but get caught in.
